Gist on Android
Okay, maybe you’re old fashioned and don’t believe in the “social media” stuff. Maybe you value the relationships you build face-to-face. I get that. Maybe you’re trying to find a job, and you want an easier way to keep track of the people and businesses you’re networking with. Maybe you’re part of one of those businesses that already has a great customer base and are thriving without social media. Great. Proud of ya, keep it up.
But, maybe, just maybe, you’re business is people (What business isn’t?), and the sheer amount of people and companies you come in contact with on a daily basis is absurd. I’d say most of us would fall into the latter category. If you’re like me, keeping up with everything that’s going on with all your contacts can be quite daunting. If you’ve been desperately trying to keep up with all your contacts, you know it can be seriously time-consuming.
Enter Gist. Gist is a tool that allows you to connect your social networks, email inboxes, and other contact management tools and combines them all into one awesome application. It gives you updates on your Twitter friends, Facebook friends, people you email frequently and everyone else in your contact list. It also ranks people based on importance. There’s also a feature which, if you connect your calendar account to Gist, will show you the most recent news on the people you are scheduled to meet with. My favorite thing about Gist is how it pulls in information about people I didn’t even have before using Gist. For example, I loaded in all my GMail contacts, and it automatically found Twitter accounts and blogs for the people I had in my gmail account. These are people I hadn’t connected with on Twitter before, and reading their blogs gave me insight into what was going on in their lives, which allows me to build better relationships. Yeah, pretty cool.
I’ve just started using Gist, so I’m sure I’m missing some very important features here, but for the time being, I wanted to get the word out to those of you who are doing things the “old-fashioned way”. If you want to learn more about Gist, click on this link with some good pointers on where to start.
What’s also great about Gist, is they have a mobile application for Android, which is what I’m using currently on my Evo.
